Today, Friday October 22, and tomorrow, Saturday 23, The annual national conference of the Italian Society of Telemedicine (SIT) is taking place. It puts together all the competences that can help develop telemedicine. 

Among the most interesting panels offered by SIT, there is “P.N.R.R (National Recovery Plan) and promotion of community healthcare. Let’s start by betworking what is there and works well already: pharmacies, doctors’ offices, and home care cooperatives” SIT Region Puglia symposium, with the contribution of Cardio On Line Europe. At the heart of the discussion, the role of pharmacies in the new, post-pandemic medicine.

The speakers have highlighted the fundamental role that Italian pharmacies have played in the relationship between citizens and medicine during the pandemic. The network of Italian pharmacies is a fundamental service in the Local Healthcare System, which create a serious and continuing dialogue with the institutions and the state. When the pharmacies become a veritable health centre, they must be thought of differently: many useful and crucial services for citizens – starting with COVID testing – are already a reality and Italian pharmacies are the best platform for the development of telemedicine. Experimentation must however turn into reality, also thanks to the vision given by the PNNR (National recovery fund)’s funding. Cooperation and coproduction is ever more crucial, desired both by Doctors and Pharmacists, which will allow the involvement of a wider healthcare area among which community nurses. The pharmacy as a service hub can become a crossroads of different professional disciplines, in which each one takes on their role’s responsibilities, working together efficiently with the others. Post-Covid, it is already a reality for Covid tests and vaccines.

Si svolge oggi, venerdì 22 ottobre e domani, sabato 23 il congresso annuale nazionale della SIT, la Società Italiana di Telemedicina. Mette assieme tutte le competenze che possono sviluppare la telemedicina. 

Fra i panel più interessati proposti da SIT anche questo sul tema: “P.N.R.R. e promozione della Sanità Territoriale. Cominciamo a mettere in rete quello che c’è e funziona: le farmacie, gli studi medici e le cooperative di assistenza domiciliare”, simposio SIT Regione Puglia, con il contributo di Cardio On Line Europe. Al centro del dibattito il ruolo delle farmacie nella nuova medicina, post pandemia. 

I relatori hanno messo in evidenza il ruolo fondamentale avuto dalle farmacie italiane nel rapporto fra i cittadini e la medicina nel periodo della pandemia. La rete delle farmacie italiane è un servizio fondamentale nel Servizio Sanitario Locale, per creare un dialogo serie e continuo con le istituzioni e con lo stato. Nel momento in cui le farmacie diventato presidio sanitario vanno però pensate in maniera diversa, molti servizi utili e fondamentali per i cittadini – a partire dai tamponi – sono già realtà e le farmacie italiane sono la piattaforma migliore per sviluppare la telemedicina. Si passi però dalla sperimentazione alla realtà, anche con la prospettiva data dai fondi del PNNR.  E’ sempre più fondamentale la cooperazione e la coproduzione che sia Medici sia Farmacisti vogliono e che consentirà di coinvolgere anche l'area sanitaria tra cui gli infermieri di comunità. La Farmacia dei Servizi come crocevia di professionalità diverse in cui ognuna assume le responsabilità che competono al ruolo interoperando in modo efficiente con le altre. E’ già una realtà, post covid, per tamponi e vaccini.

Today, Friday October 22, and tomorrow, Saturday 23, The annual national conference of the Italian Society of Telemedicine (SIT) is taking place. It puts together all the competences that can help develop telemedicine. 

Among the most innovative panels offered by SIT there is “Home care and the future of healthcare for the treatment of chronic illness and COVID”.

The speakers have highlighted the fundamental role of telemedicine and the PNRR’s (National recovery plan) initiatives. There are many concrete proposals, among which the need to put together data and information. In order to achieve that, a high standardisation of data, processes, and telemedicine platforms is needed. It is only in this way that we can manage to leave the “Silos logic”, as the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza has put it. 

Among the speakers, M. Bonomini has reminded how “contact does heal”, and therefore technology and telemedicine are great, without forgetting the fundamental duties of care. M. Cipolla has further proposed an integrated telemedicine project to overcome territorial chronicities: “COVID has taught us that we must be ready to change, while guaranteeing democracy of care. Sustainability, that is to say, the right cost of the system, taking charge of everyone, and attention to the territorial chronicities – these are the guidelines for the future. From the presented data it emerges how a good organization of territorial telemedicine, as envisioned by the PNRR, can have immediate and measurable effects on reductions in hospital admissions, as well as improvements on quality of life, and treatment of diseases.

Telemedicine’s approaches stand between innovation and tradition, aiming towards the personalization and humanization of medicine, as true paragons of the future’s medicine.

SIT: USCIRE DALLA LOGICA DEI SILOS CON LA STANDARDIZZAZIONE

E’ in corso oggi, venerdì 22 ottobre e domani, sabato 23 il congresso annuale nazionale della SIT, la Società Italiana di Telemedicina. Mette assieme tutte le competenze che possono sviluppare la telemedicina. 

Fra i panel più innovativi proposti da SIT c’è anche quello su “L’home care e il futuro dell’assistenza sanitaria per la cura cronicità e del Covid”.  

I relatori hanno messo in evidenza il ruolo fondamentale della telemedicina e delle iniziative del PNNR. Molte le proposte concrete, fra cui la necessità di mettere in comune dati e informazioni. Per riuscirci occorre una standardizzazione alta dei dati, dei processi e delle piattaforme di telemedicina. Solo così si può riuscire ad uscire dalla “logica dei silos”, per dirla con il ministro della Sanità, Roberto Speranza.  Fra i relatori anche M. Bonomini che ha ricordato come “il contatto cura” e quindi benissimo la tecnologia e la telemedicina, senza dimenticare i doveri fondamentali della cura. M. Cipolla ha inoltre proposto un progetto integrato di telemedicina per uscire dalla cronicità territoriali “il Covid ci ha insegnato che dobbiamo essere pronti ai cambiamenti, garantendo la democraticità della cure”. Sostenibilità, cioè giusto costo del sistema, presa in carico di tutti e attenzione alle cronicità territoriali, queste le linee guida per il futuro. Dai dati presentati si capisce come una buona organizzazione della telemedicina territoriale, come prevista dal PNRR, possa avere effetti immediati e misurabili sia sulla riduzione dei ricoveri, sia sull'aumento della qualità di vita e sulla cura delle malattie. Gli approcci della telemedicina si trovano fra innovazione e tradizione puntando sulla personalizzazione e sull’umanizzazione della medicina, veri modelli della medicina del futuro.

Today, Friday October 22, and tomorrow, Saturday 23, The annual national conference of the Italian Society of Telemedicine (SIT) is taking place. It puts together all the competences that can help develop telemedicine. 

The use of “Information and Communication Technologies” (ICT) in the field of healthcare – that is to say, telemedicine, is crucial for the management of populations’ health, and it is so in an ecological, scalable, appropriate and efficient way. As emphasised by Prof. Antonio Gaddi, SIT’s president: “It represents an opportunity for progress in science and medical research, as well as for economic and technological growth. In the face of the crisis of healthcare systems and organizations, which has deflagrated because of the Pandemic (but already in a “pre-explosive” state for years), telemedicine represents both the opportunity and the means to enact the deep reorganization of individual aspects of health and social care, which will be at the basis of future systems of care for health and welfare”.   

Telemedicine is, therefore, medicine. It must prevent and cure disease, using all modern technological resources at its best in order to fight harm, always and at every level, and in doing so meeting the healthcare needs expressed by people and societies. And because of this, it must ally itself in an exponential synergy, with all the professionals involved. 

For these reasons, the National Conference of the Italian Society of Telemedicine brings together the active stakeholders in the field: business, the world of research and technological innovation, healthcare management, social care, in order to offer instruments and solutions and offer them orientation, in light of science, in service of the “patient, healthcare workers, citizens, and governments” (Declarations of EU Ministers – May 2003).

All the new fields that are entering the Medical world are represented, among which the use of artificial intelligence, tele-assistance to physically and mentally frail people, devices, diagnostic and therapeutic instruments, database and network management, applied computing for individual predictive medicine and/or new epidemiology. New research proposals, clinical and technological, together with the most successful case histories of those who in these years have already been trend leaders in the field, as well as the most advanced start-ups, form the natural complement that completes this national conference, which aims to build a genuine reference model based on cultural dialogue, co-production, and interoperativity among professionals and within society.

The programme is truly rich and the themes varied, among which PNRR and the use of telemedicine to save human lives. 

Throughout the SIT conference, the results of all the work undertaken so far by ISS’ National Centre of Telemedicine and SIT, as well as other medical societies, SINC, AITN, LICE, SIAARTI, SIMEU, SIN neonatology, SIN neurology, SNO, SINP, SINPIA and SIPF. The group has produced the National Consensus Document that will be presented during the SIT conference on Saturday 23 October. 

Prof. Francesco Gabbrielli (Rome) and Prof. Vincenzo di Lazzaro (Rome) will moderate. Speakers on the topic are Dr Giuseppe Stipa (Terni), Dr Sivlia Lori (Florence), Dr Rocco Quatrale (Mestre) and Dr Paola Lanteri (Milano). The document will lead to the publication, expected by mid-November, of best practice guidelines – the first in Italy – for the use of telemedicine in neurophysiopathology, a branch of neurosciences.

Si svolge oggi, venerdì 22 ottobre e domani, sabato 23 il congresso annuale nazionale della SIT, la Società Italiana di Telemedicina. Mette assieme tutte le competenze che possono sviluppare la telemedicina. 

L’utilizzazione in campo sanitario delle “Information and Communication Technologies” (ICT), appunto la telemedicina, è determinate per la gestione della salute delle popolazioni, in modo ecologico, scalabile, appropriato, efficiente. “Rappresenta – ha sottolineato Antonio Gaddi, Presidente SIT - un’opportunità di progresso della scienza e della ricerca medica, nonché di crescita economica e tecnologica. A fronte della crisi delle organizzazioni e dei sistemi sanitari, deflagrata a causa della pandemia, ma già da anni in pericolosa fase pre-esplosiva, la telemedicina rappresenta l’occasione e congiuntamente il mezzo per operare quella profonda riorganizzazione dei singoli aspetti dell’assistenza sanitaria e sociale che saranno alla base dei futuri sistemi di tutela della salute e del benessere”. 

La telemedicina è dunque medicina, deve prevenire e curare le malattie utilizzando al meglio tutte le moderne risorse tecnologiche per combattere il male, sempre e a tutti i livelli, incontrando in questo modo i bisogni di salute espressi dalle persone e dalle società. E deve per questo allearsi, in una sinergia esponenziale, con tutte le professionalità coinvolte. 

Per queste ragioni, il Congresso Nazionale della Società Italiana di Telemedicina riunisce le componenti attive del settore: l’impresa, il mondo della ricerca e dell’innovazione tecnologica, il management sanitario, le componenti sociali, per fornire strumenti e soluzioni e orientarle, alla luce della scienza e al servizio “del malato, del personale sanitario, dei cittadini e dei governi” (dichiarazione dei Ministri della EU del Maggio 2003). 

Sono rappresentati tutti i nuovi settori che si affacciano allo scenario della medicina, tra cui l’impiego delle intelligenze artificiali, la tele-assistenza a persone con fragilità fisiche e psichiche, i device e gli strumenti diagnostici e terapeutici, la gestione dei network e delle banche dati, il computing applicato alla medicina predittiva individuale e/o alla nuova epidemiologia. Le nuove proposte di ricerca, clinica e tecnologica, insieme alle case history di maggior successo di coloro che già in questi anni hanno fatto da trend leader del settore, insieme alle start up più avanzate, costituiscono il naturale completamento di questo Congresso Nazionale, che punta a costituire un vero e proprio modello di riferimento basato sul dialogo culturale, sulla coproduzione e sulla interoperatività tra i professionisti e nella società. 

Davvero ricco il programma e molti i temi che vengono affrontati, fra gli altri il PNNR e l’utilizzo della telemedicina per salvare vite umane.  

Nel corso del congresso SIT viene inoltre presentato il risultato del lavoro messo a punto nel corso del tempo dal Centro Nazionale di Telemedicina dell'ISS e da SIT, assieme ad altre società mediche, SINC, AITN, LICE, SIAARTI, SIMEU, SIN neonatologia, SIN neurologia, SNO, SINP, SINPIA e SIPF. Il Gruppo ha redatto il Documento di Consensus Nazionale che verrà presentato nel congresso SIT, sabato 23 ottobre. Moderano il prof. Francesco Gabbrielli (Roma) ed il prof. Vincenzo Di Lazzaro (Roma). Relazionano sull’argomento il dott. Giuseppe Stipa (Terni), la dott.ssa Silvia Lori (Firenze), il dott. Rocco Quatrale (Mestre) e la dott.ssa Paola Lanteri (Milano). Il documento sarà disponibile online a metà novembre e porterà alla pubblicazione delle best practice – le prime in Italia - per l’uso della telemedicina nella Neurofisiopatologia, una branca delle Neuroscienze.
